X-Caliber Sendmail Wizard for *nix - version 1.1 Author Florian Hines (frhines@swbell.net) http://sendmail-wizard.sourceforge.net http://fhines.dnsalias.com INTRODUCTION ~~~~~~~~~ This is a "wizard" for sendmail that makes the task of setting up virtual user's, and domains easier. It asks 3 yes or no questions and then asks for the new email address and local user name/forwarded. What it does: 1. If its a brand new domain it will add it to the local-host-names file. 2. Optionally adds it to generics-domains to be reverse mapped for out bound mail (NOTE: To use this feature you must have enabled this feature in your sendmail.mc or sendmail.cf file) 3. Adds the new email address and the local user/forwarded user to virtusertable. 4. Optionally add's them to the genericstable file (you must have support for this in your sendmail.mc or sendmail.cf file) What it can't do (yet this will all be included in the next version): 1. Set up you're sendmail.mc file for you (but there is one include see SENDMAIL.mc bellow) 2. Manage "aliases" file based mailing lists for you 3. Restart sendmail for you 4. Update the databases for you SENDMAIL.mc ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've include a sendmail.mc that should get everyone started nicely see "README.mc" for more details but you don't have to use it. ============ INSTALLATION ============ 1. run the following command [root@localhost sendmail-wizard-1.1]# make 2. run this command [root@localhost sendmail-wizard-1.1]#cp sendwiz-1.1 /etc/mail Note:(/etc/mail is if you have RedHat if you run something else you will need to put it where ever your virtusertable local-host-names file are located, all the files must be in the same directory) To run the program just type [root@localhost mail]#./sendwiz-1.1 (if you are already in the directory) or [root@localhost root]#/where/ever/its/at/sendwiz-1.1 DISCLAIMER ~~~~~~~~~~~ By using this software you agree not to hold Florian Hines, X-Caliber Project's, or any other members of the development team responsible for any damage you or your company / organization may incur in the use of this software.
